The Audiovisual Council has organized seminar for students of the Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University
On March 12, 2026 the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized awareness-raising training-seminar for students of the Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University (BSU).
Opening the seminar, Aynur Nasirova, head of the department of international journalism and information at Baku State University, emphasized the importance of the seminars held regularly each year in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Audiovisual Council and Baku State University. She noted that these seminars provide future media professionals with valuable opportunities to deepen their understanding of media legislation, legal regulatory mechanisms, and gain practical experience through real cases.
Afterwards, Hashim Alimammadzade, assistant to the Chairperson of the Audiovisual Council, provided an overview of the Council’s key areas of activity, the work carried out within the legislative framework, as well as initiatives aimed at raising awareness among media entities operating in the audiovisual media landscape.
Then, Aykhan Sadigly, chief advisor at the Legal and International Cooperation Department of the Audiovisual Council, gave a presentation on "The Legal Status of Media Entities and Journalists in Azerbaijan". He provided students with detailed information on the legislation applied in the field of audiovisual media, regulatory mechanisms, legal aspects, the rights and responsibilities of media entities and journalists, their encouragement, including the guarantees for journalists’ professional activity, the right to access information, as well as a number of other related issues.
The seminar, held in an interactive format, concluded with a Q&A session addressing numerous questions from the students, along with explanations and discussions of real cases.
