A decision adopted to suspend the broadcasting of the “ARB” television channel for 3 hours for not preventing the use of obscene language

On January 13, 2026 the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan held an online meeting, during which a violation of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Media" by the "ARB" television channel was discussed.

During the broadcast of the television series "Sekkiz" ("Eight") on January 10, between 23:00 and 23:55, expressions containing obscene language were aired without technical restrictions. Therefore, a violation of the requirements of Article 14.1.6 of the Law "On Media" (words, expressions and gestures with indecent lexical (obscene language, swearing) meaning shall not be used) occurred, and the fact of the violation was confirmed by the experts of the Audiovisual Council.

In view of the above, the members of the Audiovisual Council took the decision to impose sanctions on the "ARB" television channel and to suspend its broadcasting for 3 hours on January 15.
