The 3rd Global Media Forum was held in Shusha
The 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum was organized on July 19-21, 2025. This year, the Shusha Global Media Forum was dedicated to the theme "Digital Transitions: Strengthening Information and Media Resilience in the Age of Artificial Intelligence".
The Forum was attended by 140 foreign guests from 52 countries, as well as representatives from about 80 media organizations, 7 international organizations, 30 news agencies, and other related organizations in order to hold discussions on the impact of digital technologies on the media in a rapidly changing information environment, the increasing role of AI in news production and dissemination, and the importance of media literacy in providing society with accurate information.
On the first day of the event, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the participants of the Forum in Khankendi and responded their numerous questions.
The official opening ceremony of the Forum took place on July 20. Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, delivered a speech and provided extensive information about the importance and goals of the Forum.
Then, the first panel session was held on the topic "Innovative Approaches: Media Literacy in the Digital Age".
On July 20, a presentation about the work in the fields of information and media across the Turkic world was organized by the Media Team of the OTS and a round table "Azertac at 105: The Past, Present and Future of Cooperation" was held in Lachin city.
The Forum participants visited the Agdam region, Khojaly and Lachin cities as part of event program.
On the last day of the Forum, two more panel sessions were held - "Media literacy as a guarantee of information security" and "How Social Media Evolution Affects Public Trust: Embracing Media Literacy".
The Forum also included an outdoor exhibition dedicated to the rich cultural heritage and historical monuments of Karabakh, side event of "AnewZ" and screening of the "Destination: Shusha, Azerbaijan" documentary, side event on "Cultural Heritage and New Media", side event on "Adapting to the Next Generation Audience and Media", one-on-one discussion "Journalism in the AI Era: Preserving Truth Amid Automation".
Within the framework of the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum, an agreement was reached on strategic media partnerships among the Azerbaijani international news and analytics television channel "AnewZ", the news service of China Central Television "CCTV+", and the Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (PTRK).
Also, a ceremony was held to present and seal a postage stamp jointly produced by the Media Development Agency and "Azerpost" LLC on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the National Press.
The 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum served as a platform for discussion and joint action for officials, media and civil society, government and business representatives, media freedom advocates, representatives of international organizations, and media experts from different countries on issues of social media and public trust, studying innovative approaches to delivering information to the public in a correct, transparent, and reliable manner, increasing public awareness against disinformation, which is considered a global threat today, drawing attention to the responsibility of all parties involved in the information circulation process, examining methods of seeking and protecting the truth, ensuring information security, examining the role and power of media literacy in all these processes, and discussing issues of social media and public trust.
