“Video-Sharing Platforms & Regulation” Workshop was held within EPRA

On March 16, 2022 "Video-Sharing Platforms & Regulation" Workshop – Session Protecting and empowering minors: Focus on Age Restrictions was held within European Platform of Regulatory Authorities (EPRA). Representatives of the Legal and international relations department of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan also participated in Session.

First, Ľuboš Kukliš, EPRA Chairperson welcomed participants and informed them about the theme and purpose of the seminar. During the 1st part, open discussion was held on age assurance / verification covering issues such as: "reporting on the experience with existing age verification systems", "what is acceptable age verification on VSPs and how it is achieved?", "commercial costs of different age assurance options", "competition concerns created by standards", "how to achieve balance between protecting children and issues of privacy?", "evidence-base: methods to assess appropriateness of measures taken by VSPs", "how far can existing systems be transposed in an online environment?", "what are the first experiences in rethinking the approach?", "what attributes should user rating systems have to be effective for the protection of under-18s?" and etc.

Then during the 2nd part of the session, academic discussions were held by Sonia Livingstone (London School of Economics and Political Science) and Eva Lievens (Ghent University). At the end of the session participants' questions were answered.
