The 61st Meeting of EPRA was held in Chiṣinau
The 61st Meeting of the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities (EPRA) was held in Chiṣinau, the capital of Moldova, on May 14-16, 2025. The Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting by the Head of the Council's Office, Fazil Novruzov, and the Head of the Communication Division, Taleh Guliyev.
At the opening of the meeting, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Ms. Maia Sandu, delivered a welcoming speech. The President highly appreciated the activities of EPRA in terms of expanding cooperation and dialogue opportunities among the bodies regulating the audiovisual media sector in Europe, learning the best practices, and wished success to the event.
At the first part, EPRA Chairperson, Mari Velsand, provided information on the work done by the organization over the past period and presented its financial report.
It should be noted that around 150 representatives and experts, including heads and representatives of 50 audiovisual media regulatory authorities from 48 European countries, as well as observers from the European Commission, the OSCE Media Bureau, the Council of Europe Media Division, the European Audiovisual Observatory, as well as experts from UNESCO, Meta, and Cullen International, attended this meeting of EPRA, the most influential network of audiovisual media regulators in Europe.
During the meeting, panel sessions "VSP and social media: Protecting children online" and "Internal Processes: What makes an evidence-based regulator?" were held.
On the second day, the new Chairperson and four Vice-Chairpersons were elected. Stephanie Comey, head of the Irish regulatory authority, was elected EPRA Chairperson for two-year term. Representatives of the regulatory authorities of the UK, Romania, Montenegro and Slovakia were elected Vice-Chairpersons.
