BAKHTIYAR BALAKISHIYEV
Bakhtiyar Garadja Balakishiyev was born on March 27, 1957 in Amirallar village of Khojavend district.
In 1976 he entered the Philology faculty of Baku State University. In 1979-1982 he continued his studies at the Journalism faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov.
In 1982-1989 he worked as an editor at State Publishing Committee.
In 1989-2006 he worked as an editor, then as head of the department and later as editor-in-chief of the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee.
On September 2006 he left his job on television and was cooperating with various channels ("TRT", "Xazar TV").
In 2010-2016 he worked as the head of department in the "Azerbaijan" newspaper.
In 2014-2015 he was a member of the working group established under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan on assesing losses and casualties in connection with the Karabakh conflict.
In 2016-2017 he worked at CJSC "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Programs" as Deputy Director of "Madaniyyat TV" channel.
On February 1, 2019 he was appointed head of the newly created Department of Author Programs and Special Projects of CJSC "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Programs".
According to the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated March 12, 2019 Bakhtiyar Balakishiyev was appointed the Member of National Television and Radio Council for the term of 6 years.
By the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Media" dated December 30, 2021 the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan was defined as the body regulating the sphere of audiovisual media. In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 08, 2022, the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan is the legal successor of National Television and Radio Council, established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 05, 2002. In accordance with paragraph 4.2 of this Decree, the members of National Television and Radio Council, whose term of office has not expired, continue their activities in the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan until the end of the period.
Bakhtiar Balakishiyev is a member of the Union of Writers and Journalists of Azerbaijan.
He is the author of such books as "Meteor Showers", "Between Heaven and Earth", "Thoughts about Independence", as well as numerous articles, feature films and documentaries.
Bakhtiyar Balakishiyev was awarded the personal pension of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and "High Media Award". In 2010 he was awarded the "Taraggi" medal.
He is married and has two children.
