On the occasion of the International Children's Day, the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan has published an informative booklet on the subject of "Protection of Children's Rights in Audiovisual Media". The publication is intended to contribute to the protection of children's rights and interests, their physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development, and the formation of a personality and a worthy citizen.
The Audiovisual Council places a high priority on the issue of children in its activities, with a particular focus on the protection of children from harmful information. The Council regularly conducts variety of events, including seminars, round tables and trainings to raise awareness of audiovisual media entities. At the same time, the Council focuses on the protection of children's rights in programs produced by audiovisual media entities.
The booklet reflects the main directions of the state children's policy laid down by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully has implemented by Head of State Ilham Aliyev. The booklet also includes extracts from a number of important documents, including the UN Convention "On the Rights of the Child", "The Oslo Challenge" to strengthen the role of media in the development of children's rights in the world, "Code of Professional Ethics for Journalists of Azerbaijan", the Laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the Rights of the Child", "On the Protection of Children from Harmful Information" and "On Media".
