The Chair of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan held media briefing

 

On February 14, the Chair of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ismat Sattarov, held a briefing for media representatives. The event was attended by the representatives of more than 30 media outlets of the country - television and radio channels, information agencies and news websites.

During the briefing, the Chair of the Audiovisual Council provided journalists with a report on 2024 and a work carried out over the past year, also shared plans for 2025.

Ismat Sattarov gave the information on the work done in accordance with the Order of the President "On the allocation of financial resources for the expansion of the radio transmission network in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan", including the steps taken to improve the material and technical base of existing transmission stations and to create the necessary infrastructure to support their sustainable operation. He also noted that a regulatory approach to television and radio broadcasting based on international experience is being implemented in the country, steps have been taken in this field and announced that these works will be expanded in the future.

The chair also spoke about the Council's response to citizens' complaints, the monitoring and legal measures taken on the basis of complaints, the financial difficulties of Azerbaijani television, the state support for audiovisual broadcasters, the competition for the production of programs held jointly with the Media Development Agency and its positive results. In addition, he revelead the genre distribution of programs on nationwide television channels, social advertisements broadcast in 2024, the current situation regarding national TV series and cartoons, as well as efforts to improve legislation on ensuring of accessibility to television programs for people with disabilities.

During the briefing, the Chair answered questions that were of interest to the journalists.
