A meeting was held on the possibilities of equal election campaigning and the role of media entities during elections

On January 11, 2024 a meeting dedicated to equal election campaigning and the role of media entities in the presidential election, was held by joint organization of the Central Election Commission, the Media Development Agency, the Audiovisual Council and the Press Council. The objective of the meeting was to enhance the free functioning of media and raise awareness.

The event started with the opening speeches of Mazahir Panahov, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ahmed Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, Ismat Sattarov, the Chair of the Audiovisual Council and Rashad Majid, the Chair of the Press Council.

Then the members of the Central Election Commission spoke on the topics of "General requirements for pre-election campaigning in the presidential election of the Republic of Azerbaijan, pre-election campaign entities, their rights and duties" and "Role and duties of media entities in the paid and free pre-election campaigning process". During the presentations, detailed information was provided to the participants on the coverage of the electoral process, ensuring transparency, and the role and tasks of the media during the pre-election campaign and on the voting day.

The meeting, attended by the heads and representatives of leading media entities, continued with an exchange of views and discussion of issues requiring clarification.
