A number of audiovisual media entities have been warned for advertisements related to medical services, the advertising of which is prohibited

On May 01, 2023 a regular meeting of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held in an online format.

The meeting discussed the results of the monitoring of advertisements conducted by the State Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control State Service and the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with the "Action Plan for joint activities of the State Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control State Service under the Ministry of Economy and the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan until 2024".

As a result of the monitoring of audiovisual programs conducted on the basis of appeals addressed by the State Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control State Service to the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, violations of Article 29.5 (advertising of medical services for artificial termination of pregnancy and artificial insemination is prohibited) of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Advertising" were revealed. Thus, cases of advertising of medical services for artificial insemination were revealed on the channels "Xazar TV" – on April 25, on April 26 and on April 27, 2023, "ATV" – on March 28, on April 04, on April 26, 2023, "ARB"- on March 28, 2023, "Dunya TV" – on March 10, 2023.

After the discussions, the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan issued a warning to "Xazar TV" LLC, "Azad Azerbaijan" Independent Television and Radio Company, "ARB 24" LLC and "Dunya" Independent Television and Radio Company that in case if similar situation is repeated, severe administrative sanctions will be imposed to them.
