A seminar on the protection of children's rights in the media was organized for students of the Faculty of Journalism

On April 28, 2026 the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized awareness-raising training seminar for students of the Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University (BSU).

Opening the seminar, Samir Khalidoglu, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Journalism of BSU, emphasized the importance of the training seminar, the fourth to be organised this year. He stated that the selection of new and topical issues for each session creates particular interest and encourages active participation among students.

Afterwards, Hashim Alimammadzade, assistant to the Chairperson of the Audiovisual Council, provided an overview of the Council’s key areas of activity, the work carried out within the legislative framework, as well as initiatives aimed at raising awareness among media entities operating in the audiovisual media landscape.

Then, Aykhan Sadigly, chief advisor at the Legal and International Cooperation Department of the Audiovisual Council, gave a presentation on "Protection of Children's Rights in the Media: Legal and Ethical Approaches". He provided students with general information on issues that require a sensitive approach in audiovisual content, discussed legislation and legal regulatory mechanisms, and offered detailed explanations to the audience through examples. Aykhan Sadigly also spoke about the importance of recently adopted legal norms aimed at protecting children's rights.

The seminar, held in an interactive format, concluded with a Q&A session addressing numerous questions from the students, along with explanations and discussions of real cases.
