Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan

The Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan has announced competitions for obtaining of 3 nationwide terrestrial radio broadcaster licenses.

On July 07, 2022, the regular meeting of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held. At the meeting, the issue of using of empty radio frequencies suitable for broadcasting was considered.

At the meeting it was said that, in accordance with the requirements of Article 35.1 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Media", the State Administration of Radio Frequencies of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan submitted to the Council a list of radio frequencies suitable for broadcasting from radio and television broadcasting stations available throughout the country. Based on this information, the experts of the department of the technical control of audiovisual broadcasting, information technology and communication of the Council and the State Administration of Radio Frequencies carried out the necessary monitoring and inspections.

During the meeting, the members of the Council were provided with all the information related to this issue. Based on the data obtained, the members of the Council came to the conclusion about the possibility of operating of new nationwide terrestrial radio broadcasters. To ensure the efficient use of radio frequency resources suitable for broadcasting, as well as to achieve the development of diversity in radio broadcasting on a nationwide scale, decisions were made to announce separate competitions from July 13, 2022, to obtain 3 (three) new licenses of a nationwide terrestrial radio broadcaster in accordance with the requirements of Articles 29.1, 50.1.3 and 51.1 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan Republic "On Media".
