The 2nd Azerbaijan - Uzbekistan Media Forum was held

 

On September 30, 2025 the 2nd Azerbaijan - Uzbekistan Media Forum themed "Digital Transformation and Media" was held under the organization of the Media Development Agency.

Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive director of the Media Development Agency, Ismat Sattarov, Chairman of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Dilshod Saidzhanov, Head of the sector of the Communications Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan and Dr. Nozima Muratova, Vice-rector for Science and innovations at the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan made opening speeches.

Within the framework of the Forum, two panel sessions were held focusing on "Media partnership in the digital era: Joint initiatives in the field of information security" and "Ethical responsibility in the digital information environment".

Fazil Novruzov, Head of the Office of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, participated in the first panel session. Moderated by Emin Aliyev, Editor-in-chief of Trend News Agency, the session also featured Abduaziz Abutolipov, Director General of the National Media Association of Uzbekistan; Rasim Baghirov, Director of the Department of International Relations and Documentation of the Media Development Agency and Kholmurod Salimov, Acting Chairperson of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan.

During his speech, Fazil Novruzov highlighted a number of pressing issues, noting that safeguarding information security is of critical importance in the current digital environment. He emphasised that, while it is not feasible to achieve absolute information security in modern society, a variety of tools and mechanisms exist to help achieve this goal. He stressed the particular importance of raising society's intellectual capacity, enhancing media and information literacy, and strengthening digital skills.

Fazil Novruzov stressed that the Audiovisual Council attaches great importance to close cooperation with the media regulatory authorities of other countries. He drew attention to the growing relationship with broadcasting regulators in several European and Asian states. He also underlined that contributing to the healthy development of the media environment, information security and media literacy is one of today's key priorities.
