The Audiovisual Council has issued a warning to “Space TV” channel at its online meeting

On June 13, 2025 the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan held an online meeting to discuss violation of the exclusive broadcasting rights of another broadcaster during the screening of the animated film "Masha and the Bear" on the "Space TV" channel on June 7-9, 2025.

Considering that the exclusive broadcasting rights to the cartoon "Masha and the Bear" in the Republic of Azerbaijan belong to the "Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company", this case was identified by the specialists of the Department for Monitoring and Analysis of Audiovisual programs of the Audiovisual Council as a violation of Article 38.2 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Media" (Audiovisual broadcasters other than the audiovisual broadcaster who has acquired the exclusive broadcasting right of the program are prohibited from broadcasting the program). Subsequently, in accordance with relevant procedures, this violation was also confirmed by the lawyers of the Audiovisual Council.

Considering that this is the first time such a violation has occurred on the air of the mentioned television channel, it was agreed at the meeting to issue a warning to the "Space Independent Television and Radio Company" LLC. The Audiovisual Council emphasized that all broadcasters must strictly adhere to the requirements of the broadcasting rights issues when airing programs (films, cartoons, documentaries, etc.) that are not their own production.
