A seminar for the staff of television channels was held in the Audiovisual Council
On December 24, 2024 a seminar dedicated to the production of television programs on combating drug addiction was held under the joint organization of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Permanent Working Group of the State Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking.
The event was attended by representatives of the Investigation Group of the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Republican Narcological Center of the Ministry of Health, the Baku City Narcological Center, and representatives of more than 15 audiovisual media entities.
Nemat Javadov, the Head of the Legal and International Cooperation Department of the Audiovisual Council, who opened the seminar with an opening speech, pointed out that in accordance with the Action Plan of the "State Program for 2019-2024 on combating illegal trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances, their precursors and drug addiction" promoting the production of television and radio programs dedicated to the fight against drug addiction was assigned to the Audiovisual Council. He provided the participants with information about the work carried out by the Audiovisual Council so far. He also noted that the joint activities of the Audiovisual Council and media entities with the Permanent Working Group of the State Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking, which established to strengthen and coordinate measures taken in the fight against drug addiction, are of particular importance.
Then, Tanriverdi Aydınov, Deputy Head of the Permanent Working Group, stated that media representatives have a great responsibility in the fight against the issue and emphasized the importance of holding such events. He informed the participants in detail about the work done through cooperation and coordinated actions with the relevant state bodies.
Aykhan Sadigly, chief adviser of the Legal and International Cooperation Department of the Audiovisual Council gave a detailed presentation on the topic. He discussed the compliance of materials produced in audiovisual media with legal requirements, the mechanisms for monitoring and regulating the process, possible sanctions, as well as the methods considered in international practice.
Then, the Head of the Investigation Group of the Directorate for Combating Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Najaf Aydinoglu, psychologist of the Republican Narcological Center of the Ministry of Health Ramin Allahverdiyev and a narcologist from the Baku City Narcological Center Afet Mammadova spoke on the topic.
At the end of the event, questions of the media representatives were answered.
