The Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan has started monitoring the retransmission packages of multiplex and platform operators

In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Media", multiplex and platform operators have the right to retransmit foreign television channels only after submitting to the Audiovisual Council documents giving such right (contract, agreement, permission, license so on). In September this year, letters were sent to all operators informing them of this legal requirement and of the monitoring to be carried out by the Audiovisual Council. Experts from the Audiovisual Council are currently examining the documents and retransmission packages submitted by a number of operators and carrying out the relevant monitoring.

As a result of preliminary monitoring, it was found that a foreign television channel was retransmitted without a document giving the right of retransmission within the package of the multiplex operator "ATV Plus" LLC. In this regard, on October 4, 2024 the Audiovisual Council drew up a protocol on an administrative offense and sent it to the relevant court, taking into account the requirements of Article 43.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

The Audiovisual Council once again reminds operators that foreign television channels included in the retransmission packages can only be retransmitted if a document giving the right to retransmission is available.
