A seminar on the theme "The Year of Solidarity for a Green World in Audiovisual Media" was held
On September 19, 2024 a seminar on the theme "The Year of Solidarity for a Green World in Audiovisual Media" was held, jointly organized by the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event was organized within the framework of the action plan approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev on declaring 2024 "The Year of Solidarity for a Green World". The aim of the event was to raise awareness of this issue among audiovisual media entities and to share the results of the work carried out in this field. Representatives of the Audiovisual Council, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Media Development Agency, the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs, as well as program directors of audiovisual broadcasters and other responsible persons attended the seminar.
Opening the event, Hashim Alimammadzade, Assistant to the Chairman of the Audiovisual Council noted that one of the five national priorities of Azerbaijan in socio-economic development until 2030 is "Clean Environment and Green Growth Country" priority. It was emphasized that, in line with this priority, work is being done to improve the environment, restore and increase green spaces, and ensure the efficient use of water resources and sustainable energy sources. H. Alimammadzade added that hosting such a prestigious event as the 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan is a vivid example of the country's growing authority in the international arena.
Sayara Mammadova, Director of the Environmental Education and Communication Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, said that the transition to an economically sustainable, clean and healthy future is one of the most pressing challenges today, and at the same time is a great responsibility facing society. In a world of environmental pollution, declining natural resources and growing demand, the transition to a sustainable economy is of paramount importance to achieve sustainable development.
Then Aykhan Sadigly, chief adviser of the Law and International Cooperation Department of the Audiovisual Council, made a presentation on "Year of Solidarity for a Green World in Audiovisual Media". Sadigly presented to the participants statistical data on programs and social videos dedicated to the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World" that have been broadcast by audiovisual media entities over the past 8 months of the current year.
Sabina Seyidova, the head of Media Analysis Department of the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, made a presentation on "The Year of Solidarity for a Green World in Media". During the presentation Sabina Seyidova noted that since the beginning of the year more than 21 thousand materials dedicated to environmental protection and the country's contribution to the global fight against climate change have been published in Azerbaijan's online media.
Then, Aytekin Hajiyeva, chief adviser of the Women and Gender Department of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, provided detailed information on the works and projects implemented by the State Committee within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World". She also noted that awareness-raising videos produced at various times on behalf of the Committee and broadcast on television channels on the recommendation of the Audiovisual Council met with the interest of Azerbaijani audiences.
