The Audiovisual Council held a training seminar for the representatives of television channels
On December 14, 2023 the "Training for TV journalists on specific aspects of drug abuse and its consequences in order to produce comprehensive media programs and author's works on the issue" was held, organized jointly by the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Working Group of the State Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Combatting Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, the Head of the Office of the Audiovisual Council, Fazil Novruzov noted that the media sphere also has a great responsibility in the fight against the greatest scourge of humanity, and in this regard stressed the importance of holding such events. He said that the relevant activities of the Working Group of the State Commission on Combatting Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking, established to strengthen and coordinate measures taken in this direction, as well as the Audiovisual Council and media should be particularly highlighted.
Head of Sector of the Working Group of the State Commission on Combatting Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking, Ragif Allahverdiyev talked about the activities of the working group and close contacts with the media, sensitive issues of covering these topics in the media, and stressed the importance and significance of regular organization of such informative events.
Further, the Head of the investigation group of the Main Directorate for Combatting Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Najaf Aydinoglu, psychologist of the Republican Narcological Center of the Ministry of Health Ramin Allahverdiyev, as well as a representative of the working group Shahin Ismayilov, spoke about drug abuse, its consequences, the tragedies it causes, the protection of teenagers and young people from harmful habits and the work being done in the country in this direction.
Media representatives were provided with detailed information on the main objectives of the “State Program for 2019-2024 on drug abuse and Illicit trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors" approved by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as, the importance of anti-drug propaganda and informative activities to strengthen the fight against "white death" in our country were raised.
The training continued with a discussion of issues and topics of interest to media representatives.
