A roundtable titled “State Communication with the Media and Society in the Context of Media Literacy” was organized

 

On December 22, 2025 within the framework of "Digitalization, Artificial Intelligence and Media Literacy" Conference organized by the Media Development Agency, a roundtable discussion titled "State Communication with the Media and Society in the Context of Media Literacy" was held.

The event was attended by authorized representatives and sectoral experts from the United States of America, Albania, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Pakistan and Uzbekistan, as well as officials from relevant institutions of Azerbaijan.

Moderating the roundtable, Rasim Baghirov, Director of the Department of International Relations and Documentation at the Media Development Agency, noted that the rapid development of digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies requires new approaches to the communication models of state institutions with the media and society. He emphasized that strengthening media literacy plays a particularly important role in reinforcing public trust and establishing healthy interaction within the information environment.

In his speech, Fazil Novruzov, Head of the Office of the Audiovisual Council, stated that digital technologies have significantly diversified both the sources and the formats through which information is accessed. He outlined the activities carried out by the Audiovisual Council to enhance public awareness and strengthen media literacy within this new media environment.

The discussions focused on the role of media literacy in shaping state information policy, mechanisms for ensuring reliable and responsible communication on digital platforms, as well as the impact of artificial intelligence on public information processes. It was noted that effective state–media–society relations established within the context of media literacy make an important contribution to reducing the risks of disinformation, strengthening citizens’ ability to critically assess information, and ensuring overall information security.
