A meeting was held with the Azerbaijani delegation in the Chamber of Deputies of Romania

 

The Azerbaijani delegation held a meeting in the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament with George-Mihail Neamțu, Chair of the Committee on Culture, Arts and Media. The meeting was attended by Ismat Sattarov, Chairman of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC, Gudsi Osmanov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Romania, and other representatives.

During the meeting, issues such as deepening of cultural, humanitarian, and media cooperation between the two countries, as well as the implementation of joint initiatives in the fields of public diplomacy, the protection of family values, and information security were discussed.

Ismat Sattarov, Chairman of the Audiovisual Council, noted that audiovisual cooperation is a key vehicle for promoting cultural, moral, and family values. He emphasized that Azerbaijan and Romania can deepen their engagement through television and radio projects, documentary films, and public-education programs.

Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, provided information on the reforms being carried out to promote innovative development in the field of media and communications, to strengthen the creative industries, and to promote family values in society. He stressed the importance of mutual exchanges of experience on information security and safeguarding the domestic media environment, noting that combating fake news in the digital sphere is treated as a priority both nationally and internationally.

Vugar Aliyev, the Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC, highlighted the growing international standing of Azerbaijan’s media, noted that joint communication projects could play a significant role in promoting Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage - particularly the cultural centers of Shusha, Baku, and Nakhchivan - more widely in Europe.

George-Mihail Neamțu, Chair of the Committee on Culture, Arts and Media, emphasized the importance of cooperation between Romania and Azerbaijan in the cultural and information spheres, stating that the Romanian Parliament and the Culture Committee attach special importance to the protection of family values and to the transmission of national identity and cultural heritage to future generations. He added that experience- and idea-sharing with Azerbaijan would help deepen cultural ties between the two nations.

The meeting was also attended by Laura Gerasim, Chair of the Committee on the Investigation of Abuses, Corruption and Petitions of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament. Laura Gerasim provided information on the measures implemented in Romania to prevent illegal activities, fraud, cybercrimes, and ethical violations in the digital environment. She noted that improving legal mechanisms and enhancing media literacy in this field are among the key priorities of Romanian society.

Ambassador Gudsi Osmanov, emphasizing that the meeting was held in a spirit of strategic partnership, noted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Romania is entering a new stage of development not only in the political and economic spheres but also in the cultural-humanitarian and moral dimensions.

At the meeting's conclusion, George-Mihail Neamțu signed his book, entitled "The Trump Phenomenon", and presented it to the Azerbaijani delegation as a commemorative gift.
