The Azerbaijan - Georgia Media Forum was held in Baku

 

On 5 December 2025, the Azerbaijan - Georgia Media Forum on the theme "The role of media in building public trust and information security" was held in Baku.

In his opening remarks, Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, emphasized the importance of expanding consistent information exchange, strengthening mutual trust between media entities, and establishing a common communication agenda in fostering regional stability and sustainable development. He emphasized that the digitalization process and the rapid development of social media platforms have significantly intensified the flow of information. This has increased the role of professional media and makes it necessary to implement information security policies more effectively.

Within the framework of the Forum, the first panel session was dedicated to the theme "Strengthening the media ecosystem to ensure information security". At the panel moderated by Fazil Novruzov, Head of the Office of the Audiovisual Council, the speakers included Radik Ismayilov, Executive Director of the "ARB 24" TV channel, Ioane Shaishmelashvili, host of Georgian "Eurocracy-Former Europe" program, Adil Taghiyev, Head of the Legal Department of the Media Development Agency and Ramilia Aliyeva, Head of the "Diversity Georgia" project of Georgian Public Television, journalist, television presenter.

During the panel, an extensive exchange of views was held on various topics, including the multifaceted impact of technological evolution on the media landscape, ensuring a reliable information space, the growing role of social media as a key source of information, and building more effective communication with diverse audiences through digital tools.

The second panel session, titled "Joint cooperation in increasing the professionalism of journalists and the media literacy of society" was moderated by Vafa Isgandarova, Head of the Nakhchivan Regional Office of the Media Development Agency. Speakers included Laman Isgandarova, Director of the Media Support Projects, Strategic Planning and Information Technologies Department of the Media Development Agency; Maia Pachkoria, Professor of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Head of Multimedia Center, Grigol Kobakhidze University, Vuqar Zifaroglu, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University; as well as Gia Abashidze, representative of the analytical group of the "Pos TV" channel shared their views on increasing the professionalism of journalists, improving the media literacy of society and the role of bilateral cooperation in this area.
