Deepening of cooperation in the field of audiovisual media between Azerbaijan and Romania discussed

 

The Azerbaijani delegation, which is on a visit to Romania, met with the Vice-President and Acting President of the National Audiovisual Council of this country, Valentin-Alexandru Jucan, at the headquarters of the organization. The meeting was attended by Ismat Sattarov, Chairman of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC, Gudsi Osmanov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Romania, and other representatives.

During the meeting, where the current state of cooperation in the field of audiovisual media between Azerbaijan and Romania and new areas of cooperation were discussed, Valentin-Alexandru Jucan stated that information security, digital transformation and training programs for young journalists are among the priority areas in the Romanian media space. He noted that the exchange of experience with Azerbaijan in this area would be beneficial for both sides.

Valentin-Alexandru Jucan also provided detailed information on the DAS (Digital Alert System) implemented in Romania. He stated that this system is integrated into all television and radio broadcasting networks across the country and ensures the delivery of important information to the population in real time regarding emergencies, natural disasters and public safety. The DAS system envisages the automation of digital security and public warning mechanisms in the Romanian audiovisual sector. The system accelerates the exchange of information for both state institutions and media regulatory authorities, strengthening the resilience of the national broadcasting network.

Thanking his Romanian counterpart for the invitation, Ismat Sattarov provided detailed information on the work done in the field of audiovisual media in Azerbaijan, the regulatory process, the reforms implemented in this direction in the country and future plans. Ismat Sattarov noted that there are ample opportunities for expanding cooperation between the two countries in the field of audiovisual media and its regulation and taking it to a higher level. He added that both the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Audiovisual Council of Romania are active members of the Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF) and the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities (EPRA).

Ahmad Ismayilov expressed his views on the importance of harmonizing regulatory mechanisms with international standards, improving professional criteria in television and radio broadcasting, and organizing mutual exchange of experiences among broadcasters.

In his speech, Vugar Aliyev provided information about the reforms implemented by Azerbaijan in the media sector in recent years, as well as its integration into international media platforms. He noted that Azerbaijan is one of the countries in the region with a modern media infrastructure, and joint projects with Romania open up new opportunities in this direction.

Ambassador Gudsi Osmanov stated that the strategic partnership between the two countries is also reflected in the field of information and media. He noted that this cooperation should not be limited to information exchange, but should also be enriched with new initiatives in the fields of digital broadcasting, content production and cultural diplomacy.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on issues such as media regulation, broadcasting ethics, combating disinformation, and the development of the audiovisual production market.
